Now that Bean-a-licious is 10 months and we’re fully into “eating people food” stage, we’ve encountered a new phenomenon. He’s decided that nothing is more enjoyable or exciting than throwing his dinner bowl at your face. And, while it was pretty freakin’ hilarious when he nearly hit the Hubs in his face the other night, it was not quite as funny when launched at my noggin’.
Obviously we’re coaching him to understand that bowls are either to be on the table or worn on his head as a hat, and are not Frisbees. But that’s really a work in progress. So, to save us some major embarrassment when we’re out and about and meal time hits, I ordered a couple of these:

Adorable baby not included.
It’s the Boon Catch Bowl (available from Amazon for $7 each). Not only do they have that handy little lip, which catches the 95% of food that misses Bean’s mouth, they also have the mother of all suction cups on the base. Give the bottom of the cup a lick, slap that sucker down (hard) onto the high chair tray or table top and – PRESTO! – a safe face zone during dinner time.
I’ve been really impressed with these bowls because the Bean has tried with all of his might to free them and they’ve stuck. They’re easy to clean and they’re well made. At $7 each, every parent should have a couple of these on hand during the weaning gauntlet.
Unless you’re into getting smacked in the face with a bowl full of oranges and chicken pieces. It could happen. Everything’s a fetish these days.

Not to mention, it looks like a baseball cap when turned upside-down on Bean’s head, yes?
