Design Dreams: PT II

It’s been awhile (a year actually) since I made a window-shopping post. Time to rectify that!

With the big move approaching (I’ll post more when we have a few details hammered out), we’ve been talking about eventually making some changes in the design of our home. In particular, I’m not super happy with our couch or living room furniture in general. When we bought it, we were on a tight timeline and needed something fast because we were having a housewarming party in 48 hours. That ruled out anything customer or that had to be ordered. We also didn’t want to spend a ton of money because we had just bought our first house together. We ended up getting a great deal on a chocolate brown corduroy sofa that was a floor model.

Fast forward a couple years and the big, bulky sofa doesn’t necessarily fit in every living room. Also, dark chocolate cord fabric seems like it would be great with a kid, but it shows EVERYTHING – from lint, to accidental milk spills. I’m just not happy with the overall look of the sofa. As for comfort, it’ll be hard to beat; it’s big, fluffy and comfy.

Here’s a super old picture, taken right after we moved into our second house:

So, I’ve been keeping eyes peeled for sofas that offer a little more seating but also offer great style. Here’s some front-runners at this point. I’ll warn you now: all of these sofa designs are informed by mid-century modern design, like my soul. :)

The Taylor Sectional – $2,549.00
If I had to choose a sofa today, this would be it. I love everything about it – the color, the style, the legs, the giddy feeling it gives me in my stomach. This may be my soulmate couch. You complete me. I’m not over-dramatic at all. Ever.

The Luna Sofa – $1,499.00
This is another front runner. I love the clean lines, the legs again and I also love the other choices in fabric colors. But it’s a little short for us. I like to be able to stretch out on a sofa for a nap.

The Gracie – $1,480.00
To say I love this sofa is putting it mildly, but I don’t think the hubs will ever be adventurous enough to go with a burnt orange sofa. :(

We’re just doing some window shopping for now. When we get moved into our new place in Colorado, save up some cheddar and live in the space for awhile, then we’ll start thinking about any changes we want to make. Taylor: ye shall be mine. :)

The Gracie shown above is similar to this one in a different color and it looks like it is a few bucks less…

I love the Soho – but I don’t love the color. It’s got such great style though!
