ground-in pool

No, that’s not a typoed version of in-ground pool. Jer and I are under contract on a super cute little 1950s ranch. It’s adorable, and perfect for us and way too small. But that’s the compromise you make: great location, great house, great updates and finishes, not-so-great size.

But one thing I love about the house is that there is an old in-ground pool that’s been filled in.

The first thing I said when we walked into the backyard and saw it was, “OMG! WE COULD PUT A GARDEN IN THE POOL!” And, yes, I yelled it and said OMG.

I’ve wanted to have a real garden for years but we always knew we weren’t staying in our previous house long term. It also had a tiny and weirdly-shaped backyard, so any garden would have taken away too much usable space. The yard on this house is over a quarter acre and it’s perfect. The old in-ground pool, or the ground-in pool as well call it, since it’s filled with Earth, is the perfect spot for it. Imagine it filled with corn, trellises for climbing fruits and veggies and pumpkins sprawling out all over the place. My heart is pitter-pattering as we speak.

Oh, and also imagine a privacy fence. That’s something that’ll have to be added.

We have the inspections today on the new pad. Once we know it’s a go and we have the green light, I’ll post more pics and explain what’s happening – lots of changes from our original plan.

have a great weekend, friends!

How exciting! I can’t wait to see your new place and what you do with it! I’m totally daydreaming about our new house, what it’ll look like, what I’ll get to do to it, all that. Of course, we have to sell our house first and depending on how that comes out, we may have to live in a one-bedroom apartment! :-)
