It was nice while it lasted.
The hubs and I made a deal long ago: we would minimize the amount of noisy toys we bought for the Bean. Toddlers are capable of producing MORE than enough noise of their own without the help of a truck that goes “beep beep” constantly.
Of course, grandparents and aunts and uncles always conspire against you as a parent and they will attempt to steal your sanity with an assortment of noisy stuffed animals, cars, balls, etc. I can’t really complain because it’s always been my goal to give all of my nieces and nephews the most loud, annoying and obnoxious toy possible simply to torture my brother and sisters.
We thought that we had the whole situation mastered – we’d simply turn them off! We win. Man, we’re awesome.

Yeah….that lasted for about 2 months, until our little Brainchild Bean figured out how to turn on EVERY. ONE. OF. HIS. TOYS. one at a time. And not only can he turn them on and off, he knows how to TURN. UP. THE. VOLUME. on all of them.
We lost. We’ve been beaten by a very smart, very stubborn and very determined toddler. In the picture above, the Bean is making sure to turn on his bear (and making sure it’s on loud) before we leave for daycare. That’s a morning commute for you. :)
Send help. And Tylenol.
